    What we offer:

Life coaching, writing to heal support groups, individual healing art sessions, classes and workshops, and outreach/community collaborations.

  • Main Modalities we use:

Expressive Arts Therapy is the practice of using imagery, storytelling, dance, music, drama, poetry, movement, dreamwork, and visual arts together, in an integrated way, to foster human growth, development, and healing. Poetry Therapy is one of the expressive arts therapies. It involves the use of language, symbols, and stories in therapeutic, educational, growth, and community-building capacities. It relies upon the use of poems, stories, song lyrics, imagery, and metaphor to facilitate personal growth, healing, and greater self-awareness. Bibliotherapy, narrative, journal writing, metaphor, storytelling, and ritual are all within the realm of poetry therapy.

  • Words from the founder

Throughout many years in working in the field of creative arts I have discovered and leaned effective modalities that address the needs of the whole person. I have worked with children in foster care, cancer patients, refugees, incarcerated populations, families, and individuals trying to cope with major changes and loss. Clinical, educational and cultural settings have been the recipients of many of my initiatives. Working with the Hispanic community and multicultural, and multilingual populations has given me the opportunity to become an expert in prescribing the poem, the book, the song, the expression you need for your lifelong learning experience. I work with institutions that believe in inclusion and diversity and are open to implement the healing arts to foster change. I also work with groups and individuals who need support, answers, clarity and strength. Gates for healing is also a gate for other professionals to offer training that foster healing and transformation.

    Cuando el Silencio habla...

    Silencio sabio, sereno, suave

    Sublime sonido del alma sana

Saeta del ruido ronco y recio

    Arrancas la lepra del espíritu.

    Oh silencio suave,

te guardo en mis secretos, y espero en Dios.

    Señor, envíame el silencio santo

y desata lo sublime de tu voz...

    When Silents talks...

    Wise, serene, soft silence

Sublime sound of the sane soul

Arrow of hoarse and harsh sound

Pull out the leprosy of my spirit.

    Oh, soft silence,

I keep you in my secrets, and I wait in God.

Lord, send me the holy silence.

  • IRANIA MACIAS

    WRITER

22 years of working as an author, outreach program librarian, educator, and poetry therapy facilitator,

I have experienced and witnessed a disconnection between literacy and emotional health. When working with marginalized communities and trying to apply creative strategies to bridge health and educational gaps, I encountered “emotional blocks” that limit the window of opportunity we wanted to open for everyone. Disruptive family dynamics, social and emotional conflicts were impossible for me to ignore when delivering programs as a program outreach librarian.
